  These stables appear to be well run and welcoming from the outside but the reality is in fact very different. Abusive owners, irrational rules and a complete disrespect of basic health and safety make this yard difficult to deal with. During the winter months no precautions are taken to deal with the ice on all paths - horses are literally skating around and some have fallen. My horse took a tumble, narrowly missing myself and I was given shavings to provide grip. Still no grit was applied to the surface. The yard is always clean and tidy, and there is a fantastic arena but the number of rules in place make it difficult to make full use of it. Lessons can only be at certain points throughout the day, usually at times that arent of any use to schoolchildren. They cannot be back to back meaning that instructors are having to leave after one lesson rather than running them one after the other. The jumping paddock is in terrible condition due to poor drainage and quite often doesnt seem safe to use due to the numerous pot holes dotted around. Lastly you have to deal with yard owners who clearly have no concept of customer service. The use of abusive language and aggressive behaviour is common, and has been aimed towards the younger teenagers before. A common threat bandied around by the owners is that your contract will be terminated with no notice - it really is no wonder so many have elected to leave before being forced to for no good reason. Lastly, hay bales (small in size) are provided at a cost of £7. I have found this to be quite expensive for the bale provided, and certainly in comparison to what can be bought for this cost elsewhere.
